"Donuts!"
Jet woke up with a start from the strident cream of his scroll. Yes, not ring, scream. He wanted to make sure he woke up at the specific time he set the alarm, so the sound he chose for a wakeup call was the typical horror B-movie female scream. Pretty effective. He had been a bit too hyped for the tourney that he didn’t sleep much in the last few days so he decided to rest at least a bit before his match. Mission accomplished, now to let his body finish waking up as he made his way to the arena. The walk was unfortunately pretty quick and he still felt somewhat half-awake when he got there… Well there’s another way to wake up fully for him at least… Taking a deep breath to prepare for it, he lifted his sunglasses and opened his eyes. Five seconds of the daylight’s burning sensation on his eyes made short work of his sleepiness. Good thing he was alone in the room, his pain scream was almost as high pitched as his alarm.
Putting back on his shades, he made his way in the actual arena, standing on the platform, and started to look around. The size of it was decent and having watched the two other matches, he knew he’d be presented with a randomized environmental combo for a battlefield. Something with a lot of 3D fighting potential would be best for him and when the randomizer was done, his wish seemed to have been half granted ; Forested mountains and ocean set. Well he definitely had no way to fight in the ocean half unless there was some sort of small islands or floating things, but if the other guy has an advantage over him on that terrain, he’d just avoid it.
As the terrains appeared, Jet rolled his shoulders, looking at his opponent. He remembered him, it was the guy with the weird hair color! Well, he if was able to perceive that, his vision wasn’t too bad for this fight, he could handle it. He might not have the clearest of views but at least he wasn’t going blind.
Smirking at his opponent, the black haired hunter took a pose, waiting for the start signal. “Well, let’s give those people a show!”

Lloyd didn't sleep at all last night, not a single minute of sleep as he was way too excited for the upcoming fight that he was about to participate in. The main reason for his current level of hypeness was fighting against another student for once as it didn't happened too often with his status of hermit at Syne, always locked up in his room working on his lance Gae Bulg. The other reason was that he was about to have a duel with one of his own teammate, which made this first opponent the most interesting of all contenders in this tournament for him. Lloyd had spent the night working on his weapon as usual, making sure it was ready for the event while also making sure that his new bionic arm was totally receptive and functional since it served as a shield as well as a regular limb. Beside the appendage, his weapon's second form that was a separate piece made it quite difficult for him to alter between the lance form and the gun one, which was an anti-material rifle, so basically just a very large and powerful sniper but still a important piece of his arsenal. Why was it in two pieces? Simply because it would have been too heavy to lift this weapon with a single arm. So Lloyd made the cannon of the rifle inside the length of the lance while the firing mechanism and the magazine were latched onto his back at the level of his right shoulder plate, connect the two pieces and you get a powerful range weapon. The decisive battle was to take place soon, all that was needed was for the two students to meet in the arena in order to begin. Lloyd entered the stadium, lance holstered, coat all white as he walked toward his friend while greeting him with a wave. "Yeah, lets do that, we wouldn't want to show other schools that Syne doesn't have the awesome team in whole Remnant!" Lloyd looked around to see the current terrain, immediately thinking that the ocean was a stupid idea for him to battle there so he decided that he'd go for the forest, which wouldn't be too hard to reach. Before the signal was given, the two-tone-haired guy picked his lance and immediately switched to his rifle mode while his coat began to change, turning pitch black while white plating began to cover the chest, his hips and his right arm along with his shoulder. For his bionic arm, its plating rose a bit, making it look like a medieval-patterned armor. It nearly looked like he was wearing the hide of a Grimm. Right before the signal would be given, Lloyd looked at Jet with a goofy smirk before taking a stance with his gun in hands. "Well, lets have fun. The loser pays a drink to the winner!" With that the fight began and without losing a second, Lloyd used his Semblance to propel himself backward while aiming his rifle at Jet and shooting while nearly floating over the ground as he kept Repelling himself toward the forest each time his feet touched the floor. His shooting skills weren't the best, limiting the number of shots to less than one per second, but the bullets were fast, really fast compared to more standard guns. The plan was to create distance between him and Jet while heading for the forest. Sure it would drastically limit the use of his rifle, but at least he would be able to use the trees as cover. He also had a little idea too that he would definitively try.

As the count-down began, Jet closed his eyes while cracking his neck slowly, smiling at Lloyds words. “I hope you’re rich, I’m always thirsty after a fight.” The moment the announcer started the fight with a loud “Go!”, Jet started dashing toward his opponent. He hadn’t fought with or against Lloyd yet so he didn’t know anything about his abilities yet, meaning he was sort off surprised when he saw his teammate’s body shoot backward without much movement. That was weird, but no time to really think about it; what he was pointing at him looked pretty dangerous. Instinct more than anything made him jump sideway the moment he saw the rifle pointed at him. The bullet sunk deep into the earthy ground behind him after wheezing right past his head, almost taking his ear on the way. What followed was a lot of zigzag manoeuvers trying to stay out of the line of fire while still closing in the forest. One bullet would have hit his shoulder but Jet lifted his right arm to parry it, as if batting it away with his weapon that was still curled around his bracer. Even though he technically parried, the strong impact from the high velocity and caliber of the round propagated the concussive force to his whole arm. Those rounds are strong and will hurt a lot; better not get hit, even blocking is not recommended. “That’s some nice fire power you got there, that’s good, I was worried I wouldn’t get any challenge!”
Jet didn’t mind that Lloyd wanted to go in the forest; that was his goal too. Once he reached the edge of it, he shot out his bladed chain to grab on the trunk of a tree further to his right and reeled himself in. His semblance was already coursing through the chain to help his control but mostly to free the metal from the trunks, allowing him to use his momentum to grab another tree and shoot around like a slingshot. He repeated the manoeuver a few times, building speed while at the same time making himself a hard target for his opponent’s long range attacks.
The black haired hunter tried to get himself behind his opponent for a quick slash attack. He grabbed a few of the blades from his chain, throwing them at Lloyd from time to time, mostly just trying to distract with them until he found a good attack angle. A quick reel to alter his trajectory and build more speed, he released the tree he was currently circling, speeding straight at his opponent. His weapon, Drakenrüchen, had was partially uncoiled, giving him about a meter long of blades. He waited at the last second to begin his attack, throwing his right arm forward with a slight twist. The chain shot from his side toward his front, trying to slash at his opponent as he flew by.

Lloyd chuckled after hearing Jet's comment about the firepower his rifle packed. Of course it'd be a powerful gun as after doing some research about each of the teammates he didn't quite know, so Jet and Kei, he learned that all three of them when counting Avy were all very offensive in battle tactics and although Lloyd always focused on survivability and versatility, he figured that having a heavy ranged weapon wouldn't bring any negative effect and either way with his Semblance he could always jump in the heat of a battle with his lance if needed, so it didn't bother him to be in the backline from time to time. The tone-tone-haired guy was impressed by his shots so far, it was basically the first time he used his rifle and he nearly hit Jet more than once, which made him proud as he never was very good with range weapons in the past, even if it was years ago it was still something for him. Going back to his chuckling he said to his comrade: "Challenge? Dude, you asked for it!"
As both of them got deeper in the forest with Jet circling around the trees' branches like a monkey with his bladed whip, Lloyd was probably the only one to really notice how the terrain was quickly going up as they reached the feet of the mountain. Being in the middle of all those trees and standing on an uneven floor wasn't that bad for him, even with Jet moving around while the coated hunter stood still as he preferred a stationary position where he could defend himself better than going for evasive maneuvers. Looking in only one direction that was where he came from, Lloyd easily expected that Jet would aim to go behind him for an attack, as that was the most common tactic for fast moving people against slower opponents. So keeping the corner of his eyes focused on anything that moved, he caught quickly a glance of those blades that Jet thrown at him and deployed his shield that's integrated in his left arm and blocked the sharp projectiles.
As his shaded adversary now aimed to hit him, Lloyd stood still as he was directly in the flying man trajectory and simply lifted his arm to Repel the blow as it came into contact with him. Underestimating the power of the whip, the lance wielder wasn't left unscathed by the attack but it gave him the opportunity for Lloyd, along with the probable loss of momentum Jet would have from the effect of the Repel, to grip his opponent weapon with his left arm and keep it form its user's control for now. Lifting his rifle toward one of the surrounding trees, the coated hunter gave a grin to his fellow teammate. "Guess what else I can do with my Semblance~" With that Lloyd fired his weapon, using his Repel against the tree to redirect his shot towards Jet with the ricochet. The two-tone-haired guy did this multiple times, aiming at different trees with different angles, all of which were pretty safe for him as long as his opponent didn't try to move him too much, which would be hard to do with Lloyd's weight with his gunlance, his bionic arm and his coat that was heavier than it looked.

Jet’s chain acted weirdly when it hit Lloyd. Instead of simply sliding and grinding away at the aura of his teammate, the blades seemed like they bounced at the impact right back at Jet. The black haired guy was relatively used to getting hit by his own weapon; the unconventional design of the chain caused him to cut himself quite a few times whenever he trained for a new move with it. That being said, he wasn’t prepared for his own weapon to change direction so suddenly, a few blades grazing at his face. His aura took most of the damage but a thin red line formed on his cheek. Jet hit the ground rolling, falling down quicker than he had planned. The whole thing started to give him an idea of his opponent’s semblance, just an idea though, he didn’t have any details. “That’s an interesting trick...”
His words were quickly lost as he realized Lloyd’s metallic arm was holding Drachenrüken in between two blade links. Grabbing a blade chain would normally be decidedly stupid, but he had to agree a bionic arm would be remarkably adequate for it. Still, Jet couldn’t help but smile at the move. Lloyd’s next attack was a surprise, Jet thought his semblance worked only on himself but apparently, he could have his bullets bounce off of trees. Now he might be a techy guy, able to calculate lots of stuff for his designs and all, but when it came to predicting the bullets trajectory after hitting trees with uneven surfaces… he wasn’t a mathematical genius either. The rifle’s bullets were fast so his quick reaction time was his only saving grace.
The first bullet hit him square in the left shoulder. Jet had barely the time to register it before the impact pushed his whole left side backward. Thank god for auras, he didn’t fancy having a hole in his shoulder this early in the round… Then again, the bruise he felt forming wasn’t going to be anywhere nice either. There was more than one shot though and Jet didn’t have time to think, so he did the first thing he could think of : he used the impact to throw himself backward, doing a quick partial summersault, landing on his left hand and knees, low to the ground. His right arm was still held tight by Lloyd’s grip on his weapon, so he could only land on his injured limb. He gritted his teeth through the pain before smiling again. “I’ve gotta give it to you, not a lot of people can grab my weapon without harm…” He had barely landed that he was jumping forward toward his opponent. A quick wrist flick got his weapon twisting in the air and would be constricting around the bionic arm of his opponent. “…but that doesn’t mean it’s not a stupid move.”
Bionic or not, it probably wasn’t meant to bend very far backward. Jet spun vertically in the air over the two-toned haired guy while pulling sharply on his weapon the moment he was behind to try and lock the metal arm up and backward. As he landed, he dashed forward on the other side of his opponent. This would force him to turn around to avoid being wrapped in sharp blades, but Jet wasn’t done. His left hand grabbed one of his blades from the bracer and slid his fingers in the holes that were made in every one of them for that exact purpose, turning it into a blade knuckle. He stayed in close proximity to his opponent and went for a direct strike to either the back or side of his teammate, whichever was in reach.

Lloyd only smirked when Jet got hit by his own weapon after the coated hunter's Repel did its work but it was more than a simple trick in the arsenal of uses this Semblance had. Its name may be misleading, as it doesn't quite repel attacks, it was just the first name Lloyd thought for it when he first discovered his Semblance and he was too lazy to come up with another one. It's real effect is the ability to change the direction of the vector of an object wherever he wishes it to go. It also doesn't simply applied to physical objects either as it works with energy-based projectiles and even explosion, to an extent. As long as the two-tone-haired guy can point his arm towards the surface he needs to act as the "repulsor", be it his own hand, the floor around him or walls, he'll be able to change the direction of the object elsewhere, usually back at his opponent for a counter attack. This Semblance wasn't limited to attack and defense either, it was also useful to move around like he did earlier by using the constant gravitational force that pushes everything down, him included, Lloyd can use that force to launches himself or others in any given direction. Which reminded him...
After Jet got hit by the precise ricochet of his rifle, something that wasn't too hard to pull off after Repelling hails of bullets in past fights with good precision, the shaded guy jumped over the coated one to lock his arm backward as he held the chain weapon. The two-tone-haired guy realized that this was a pretty good move and didn't quite like the discomfort of his new position, but he had an idea for that. Now pretty much forced to turn around to face his opponent and also unstuck his arm, Lloyd did exactly that, but not without launching himself up and backward as he faced Jet with a smirk while the other hunter was going for an attack. "Sorry dude, but I need space, I hope you understand." With that said with an amused tone and not wanting Jet to get too close with his weapon, Lloyd thrust his lance forward, aiming at his fellow teammate's chest while pulling on the chain in hope to destabilize him enough to land the hit.

Lloyd miscalculated one thing in his last move: he was the one that was airborne while Jet was well rooted to the ground. The black haired hunter also pulled on his chain but he didn’t count on it being enough to handle the lance and sidestepped the long weapon strike at the same time. “I can be clingy, you’re gonna have to deal with it.” If he was a lance and rifle user, that meant he wasn’t a close combat fighter. Rushing in, Jet made sure to not let him put any distance between them so he could stay inside the non-effective range of the long weapon. He still stayed on his guard for any hand-to-hand strikes but Jet went straight for a direct to his opponent’s torso with his left knuckle.
At the same time, Jet also struck with his right arm, his closer proximity giving enough chain to try and hit his opponent’s face, slightly to his left to force him to dodge to the right. The chain on his arm would become taut as his right punch passed by and potentially cut at the neck on the way; not a move he’d do against someone without an aura to protect them of course, it could be pretty lethal otherwise.
At the end of his punch, Jet activated the reeling of his chain. Technically, Drachenrüken isn’t a chain. It’s a wire on which his blades are attached. The blades can mechanically slide and come off of the wire with the barest touch of his semblance. As his weapon is a conduit for his aura, he doesn’t even need to consciously activate his semblance to control this minimal actions. Holding his chain by the blades was possible. But it’s relatively impossible to hold a wire. All the blades around Lloyds arm came off the moment the wire started reeling in the brace, the sharp metal pieces falling to the ground as the metal string slid around the arm. His remaining blades in his bracer would automatically set themselves at the tip of the wire so his weapon was still usable, would be a bad design if it had patches of wire without blades every time he threw a few.
Using a little bit of fancy foot work, Jet slid behind Lloyd, passing under his right arm and weapon then jumped backward, launching his remaining chains in a straight line toward his teammate’s back. He knew the attack wouldn’t do anything, he was actually expecting it to be blocked, dodge or whatever, but ultimately, Lloyd would have turned toward him in some way, maybe moved or whatever, but the blades that he let fall to the ground before would be in his blind spot and he’d be facing a smirking Jet. Lifting his hand up, Jet simply did a come hitter move, but it wasn’t a taunt. His semblance flared, his green aura emerged from him and all the blades that littered the ground, even those he threw earlier, responded to the command and converged on his opponent, most of them potentially coming from right behind him.

It was indeed a mistake from Lloyd to believe he'd have the advantage in a tug of war while being airborne, the consequence being an immediate return to the ground when Jet was the one pulling. The landing wasn't bad though as he was standing ready and on his feet after his attack missed with his left arm still pointed downward because of the chain while his opponent rushed towards him. It was a good move to stay close to him as it was harder to hit someone with his weapon type but that didn't mean that he wasn't prepared to deal with a full frontal assault from such a proximity. They were both hunting Grimms which most of the time were as close as Jet currently was right now.
But of course Jet was faster than most Beowulves that Lloyd had slain and with his left arm more or less unable to raise its shield in time the punch aimed at his chest landed, the blow feeling less powerful than it was with the plating of his armored coat but a dent was clearly seen, and not a small one. With the second punch coming for his face, rather than dodging sideways, Lloyd let himself fall backward before sticking his lance in the ground behind him and using it as a vaulting pole to do a somersault backward while aiming to kick Jet right under the jaw while evading. As that happened, the coated hunter could feel the wire around his arm tightening as it was reeled in before his arm got free from it totally before Jet got around him with his usual speed.
Knowing that Shady wouldn't just wait for Lloyd to turn around to attack, he decided to immediately go for another evasive maneuver and used his Semblance to launch himself upward and slightly forward, dodging the blades that were going for his back while he turned around to see what seemed to be a taunt. Realizing too late that this was to control all the blades that weren't in Jet's possession to go stab him from both in front and behind him, Lloyd dropped his weapon to make use of both arms to defend himself. Although his Semblance was very versatile, Lloyd was never able to use it simultaneously with both hands, so he used his right hand to Repel the blades that were in front of him, those that were on the ground moments ago, towards Jet while he used his bionic arm to block those that he dodged earlier using his shield before landing to the ground. The coated hunter looked at his shield as he saw that some of the blades got stuck in it before he chuckled. "Pretty obvious that I made it to primarily deal with Dust and not sharp objects. I'll have to deal with that sooner or later..." Lloyd then took back a defensive stance before looking at both his opponent and his weapon that was still in the grass just a couple of meters away.

Drachenrüken was as extended as possible already so as to have manoeuverability and enough blades close to the tip to be used. His last straight attack with it had been more of a distraction than anything to open up for the blades he sent with his semblance. It worked partially, somewhat better than he hoped since his opponent just discarded his weapon to better react to the attack. He didn’t score any hits, but if he could prevent Lloyd from gaining access to his weapon, it would be a great advantage for him. Might be a good time to do something he had planned to anyway.
He was fully aware, and expected, some of his own blades bouncing back toward him from the Oreo haired guy. His next move was to do a full spin on himself, letting his blades sink and slice through a couple of trees that were close to him, angling it so that the trunks fell in front of him, effectively blocking most of the repelled blades as well as falling right over the lance of his opponent, pinning it down. The remaining ones were technically forced out of his control by Lloyd’s semblance but since there were only a few, he was able to slow them down enough to easily dodge and reclaim them. One of them was one of the two bigger blades that served as a weight at the tip of his chain normally, the second one being stuck in the trunk closer to his teammate. Jet slightly massaged his jaw that Lloyd had managed to kick with his unexpected summersault move earlier. “That was a nice kick… but, are you sure it was wise to drop your weapon? I mean, I won’t complain but don’t expect me to just stop using mine because you were careless.”
Jet used his semblance to grab onto any blades he could still control and get unstuck easily enough, having them fly to his bracer where they reinserted themselves in the mechanism. With a fairly longer weapon, Jet started to run toward Lloyd, which just so happened to be downslope of the mountain, doing wide circular attacks that could be seen as useless, if one didn’t consider all the trees that were being cut through cleanly. It wasn’t as easy as it sounded though, while he could quite easily cut through a tree with some effort in making his slash stronger, he was currently trying to make it seem like his blades could pass through them like butter, so he was applying quite a bit of semblance to it. The trees were falling down but of course couldn’t roll off the mountain. Still, as he got closer to Lloyd, the less options his opponent had to avoid the forest folding toward him. Some trees did manage to fall in a way that made them slide down the mountain and end up in the water of the ocean half of the arena.
A lot of the trees ended up in precarious position, stuck in other trees or piled up in a very unstable way, but this only made the battleground more exciting. Running up one of the fallen smaller trees, the top of it started to shift downward like a balance from the human’s weight on it. The moment it hit the ground, Jet jumped straight at Lloyd, his left hand, still holding the knuckle, cocked backward for a punch. His trajectory would make him land in front of the armored hunter, but instead of punching, he would charge him with his right elbow.

Lloyd could feel the blades in his shield shake as Jet tried to bring them back to his weapon but they seemed too well stuck in the protection to come off and then decided to do the same thing as his opponent to get his weapon back. Unfortunately for him, Shady got it stuck under trees, ruining Lloyd's plan to get it back by Repelling it from the ground directly to his hand. If you think that he could simply Repel the trees before doing so you'd be overestimating the coated hunter's abilities as there was a size limit to what he could use his Semblance on. The biggest thing he was able to move was his motorbike while driving it on the highway along with a passenger.
Jet then taunted the two-tone-haired guy about his now lack of weapon before he began to chop down more trees while running at him. The number of trees falling left and right was impressive, especially at this speed and if Lloyd wanted to get out of the way, his only way out was upward, where he went after using his Semblance to launch himself on a stump before facing back at his opponent that was coming for a direct attack at him. Raising his now improvised bladed shield to block the strike, Lloyd chuckled thinking back on Jet's earlier taunt. "Oh don't worry about me buddy, I got a trick up my sleeve..." With that, the coated hunter swung his right arm like he was giving a hook, but it wasn't with his fist that he was attacking.
See, Lloyd's coat wasn't any ordinary coat, it could morph and the secret of this unnatural piece of clothing remained only to him, but the possible changes were always visible to all. Changing from white to black, plating forming on it like armor pieces and now even morphing for a more offensive approach. After his strike, Lloyd showed his right arm, the sleeve of his coat now turned into a meter long arm blade that began at his elbow and going toward his hand. Then again, no ordinary blade it was as it's golden glow let speculate that it was a Deathstalker's stinger more than a blade. He chuckled at his friend before finishing his sentence with a single word. "...literally"
Keeping his shield up and taking a different stance than when he used his lance for a more sword-friendly one, Lloyd marched toward his opponent while giving short but swift strikes with his new weapon while trying to force him toward the water of the other half of the arena, staying ever so vigilant of his footing and his opponent's possible counter attacks.

Laughter, that was the only response Jet could give to that statement. The “literally” sealed the deal. Not derision laughter, just that he was having a lot of fun and this was definitely not something he expected, but he was damn happy about it. This fight was far from over. His hook strike looked weird and as a martial artist, Jet could instinctively know that the punch would miss, but he could have easily been a faint and be followed by an elbow strike, so even if he knew it wouldn’t hit him, the sunglass-guy still dodged backward and was damn glad he did as a golden blade-like material was covering Lloyd’s arm.
The bigger knuckle in his left hand and a smaller blade in his right, Jet entered a little spar with his teammate. Neither of them could land a hit, a few of the still standing trees still falling around them, shifting dangerously at the barest of winds. Their fight was being moved toward the ocean half of the arena, apparently the Oreo guy’s goal. Did he think it would put trap Jet? Really, The black haired guy himself wanted to go there anyway.
A big tree fell toward their position and Jet jumped in its falling trajectory. With his arms around the trunk, he managed to spin over it while still falling, putting his foot on it and pushing as strongly as he could toward his opponent. This allowed Jet to fly backward toward the water and deviate the tree’s falling arc toward the other fighter. Summersaulting midair, Jet landed on one of the multiple trees that had slid down in the water. Floating around him was quite a few of them, more than he expected. With a smile, Jet lifted his right arm, looking toward the shore. All of his blades, except the ones he was holding in his right and left hands fell in the water. “So, how’s your balance? This looks like a nice way to test it doesn’t it?” Cracking his neck and stretching his arms a bit as he waited, Jet took that time to test the balance of the trunk he was standing on, getting used to its movements and shape so as not to slip off.

Lloyd began to laugh along his friend as both seemed to enjoy themselves more than they should. It felt to the coated guy that they were having more like a friendly spar between teammates rather that being in a serious tournament like they were currently in. Plus, it was way more interesting to fight a fellow Huntsman than any Grimm this world could throw them. The two guys were exchanging blows, not hitting one another as Jet seemed to dodge around the stinger's attack while Lloyd while blocking the upcoming jabs with his shield. They also seemed to both wanting to move towards the water, which made their terrain changing go about quicker.
As a tree was falling towards them, Jet seemed to have jumped on it to force it down Lloyd faster that its initial speed would allow it before jumping on one of the many floating trunk that were in the water after rolling all the way from the mountain to were they were now. As he was asked how was his balance and looking at his teammate standing on the tree, Lloyd couldn't help but sigh as he knew he'd be at a disadvantage there with his weight. Sure he didn't have his weapon; well, his normal weapon; that was surely half of the total weight of his full arsenal, but his coat in its armor form was still heavy and his left arm was made of steel, and not the cheap kind. But Lloyd didn't want to disappoint his sparing partner so he decided to roll with it.
Returning his coat to its unarmored white form and folding back his shield into his arm, Lloyd joined his friend on the floating tree by launching himself upward and landing on his side of the balancing wooden cylindrical platform, but with his speed he sunk his quite a bit, lifting the other half on which Jet would be standing while smirking. "It shouldn't be too bad, but I feel like yours might be better but hey, I wanna make this fight as enjoyable as possible for both of us, even if that means placing myself into a dangerous situation." After the trunk would stabilize, The coated hunter would place himself so his right side would face toward his opponent to get as much reach he could with his glowing arm-blade while making sure to look out for Jet's attack as he was faster than him and where they were, Lloyd couldn't just be adamant on his current position. At least he had an idea if he was to lose balance, if science was right, it should work, but only time would tell.
Moving sideways towards Jet, the two-tone-haired guy began to thrust his arm and thus his weapon at him trying to severely poke him with the stinger while pushing him closer towards his end of the tree.

To say that their footing was unstable was an understatement. The shape of it made the trunk want to roll on every shift, the water made it somewhat slippery and its buoyancy was barely enough for the both of them to stay over the surface. Still, there was enough trees floating around to make this a fairly fun area and provide a good show to the spectators. Jet did say at the start of the fight they should give a good show, he’s not the kind to not provide after saying something like that.
Without the cover of the trees, the light was hitting his glasses more directly so his vision wasn’t as good as in the forest, but since they were going to be fighting from close range, it was fine enough. Rolling his shoulders, he took a fighting pose, both fists forward with his left slightly behind the other. “Well, I’ll be honest and say this wasn’t only to make the fight more enjoyable. But yeah, it is more fun that way so let’s leave it at that.”
Taking a few steps forward at the same time as Lloyd, making sure there wasn’t too much weight on one side of the tree, Jet was using his right fist that was slightly more forward than his left to slap the golden blade away with his bracer, not losing any ground. He was purely defensive at the moment, but more than just trying to be cautious, his concentration was actually somewhat split with something else. His lack of focus was enough for him to let a few strikes past his defense, once even using his bare left hand on the blade to avoid a more dangerous blow. Most of the strikes were mitigated in some way by his arms, bracer or hands, the sharp material protruding from the two-tone-haired guy’s sleeve grinding against his aura and one making a fairly deep cut on his right bicep. A flesh wound, nothing hindering, but it stung still.
Suddenly though, Jet started to go on the offensive, his concentration fully back to the fight. A quick forward step with his left foot while half crouched was followed by an uppercut from his left knuckle, the bigger one. Even should he fail to hit him, it would at the very least force him back a bit, but Jet didn’t want to stay at blade length too much, so he shifted his right foot forward with a strong right straight to the stomach. Issue with blades, they’re much more easier to fight when very close to the opponent as it’s then possible to strike at the arm to stop attacks as they are initiated. Also, the fact the blade was extending from the outside of the arm prevented Lloyd to simply twist his wrist to perform a close quarter attack.

Lloyd was good for making it enjoyable for every parties involved, but having to focus on himself, his opponent and the constant shift in balance of the log they were fighting on wasn't easy to deal with. At least so far the coated hunter was the one on the offensive as Jet seemed to be preoccupied by something while half defending himself, letting the two-tone-haired guy land a couple of hits. No real direct ones, but their number was only increasing as time went on. Although it was obvious that the tides would change at some point and Jet pushing forward to attack was that turning point.
Unfortunately, Jet's maneuver was ill thought as Lloyd still had his shield standing between him and the rising fist of Shady. Knowing that generally uppercuts aren't small attacks, the coated guy grinned before activating his Semblance as the fist connected with his shield, which would certainly leave Jet open for a counter attack hopefully. But it seemed like Jet wouldn't stop there with his assault and followed up immediately with another punch, but Lloyd's guard was still up and he Repelled the next blow as well, but not without backing up a bit with one step. At least it wasn't all that the Repel would have done as Lloyd made sure to send all the energy of the punch directly back where it came from: Jet's fist. It would probably feel like if he had punched his own hand that was punching him back, like two colliding cars.
Although, it looked like Lloyd's defense wouldn't hold forever as he began to grow tired and he could easily be seen panting. It wasn't really physical exhaustion that was hitting him but more the strain of his Semblance as it drained a lot of Aura from him to use it and since his fighting style nearly rely on it, it wasn't easy to keep fights going as long as huntsmen were able to. It wouldn't stop him though, and will fight till the end, both this fight, and the one against Grimm in general.
Hoping that his defense would open the way for a counter attack, Lloyd went for a shield bash against his opponent shifting his right foot up front and going for a powerful thrust before pushing forward again with a tackle of his shoulder, aiming to make Jet fall off the log they were on.
